Abstract

In 2019, the University of the Philippines - School of Archaeology (UPSA) and the Municipal Government of Alubijid undertook an archaeological investigation at the Calumat Open Site in Purok 6, Brgy. Poblacion. The project's second phase was carried out through the 2023 UPSA Archaeological Field School, with the goal of examining the socio-political status of the people in Northern Mindanao during the Spanish era and to analyze the colonial structure built by the Spaniards. This extension project in the Municipality of Alubijid provided the community with the significant results of the Calumat research through an on-site exhibition and immersive activity and engaged the community in developing its local heritage with the help of UPSA on cultural mapping.
