Join us for the weekly Binalot Talk entitled "Forensic biogeographical ancestry inference: Historical perspective and points of discussion" to be given by Nj Soliven of the Natural Sciences Research Institute of UP Diliman.
Abstract:
Forensic biogeographical ancestry inference is an investigatory tool wherein the ancestry of the source of a biological sample is inferred using certain sections of the DNA referred to as ancestry-informative markers. This allows for potential leads in cases where no reference is available for comparison. This talk aims to discuss the molecular and mathematical techniques involved in biogeographical ancestry inference, the advancement of this method as an investigative tool, its use in actual cases overseas, some controversies, and current developments.
Everyone is welcome to join. This will be held in Albert Hall, University of the Philippines Diliman. This will not be recorded.
