 alk synthesizes and extends various decolonization efforts throughout and 
 beyond academia\, including the decolonization of knowledge and knowledge 
 production. It will explain the concept of coloniality of knowledge and ho
 w it functions as a central tool both of colonial rule and of contemporary
  Western hegemony within an unequal global economy and interstate system. 
 It will give examples for eurocentric concepts in a range of disciplines a
 nd explore how these function. It will discuss inequalities in global acad
 emia and knowledge production (also termed intellectual imperialism and ac
 ademic dependency)\, and show how these function to maintain and reinscrib
 e coloniality of knowledge. Lastly\, it will discuss various approaches to
  decolonization of knowledge and knowledge production.
